THANE: A 40-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter for the last four years. The Kasarwadavli police said that the girl was living with her father since the last seven years after he severed ties with the victim’s mother, who lives with their two sons.The estranged couple live in the same neighborhood in Kasarwadavli. The accused works as an electrician and barely manages to make ends meet. He stopped his daughter’s education due to financial problems. So, the girl has not been schooling since a year. Since the last four years, the girl was subjected to torture at the hands of her father. Finally, fed up with the day-to-day harassment, she narrated her ordeal to her neighbours.They then convinced her to inform the police. The girl, along with her neighbours, approached the Kasarwadavli police who registered a case on Wednesday evening. The cops then arrested the accused and sent the victim for a medical examination.The accused has been booked under various sections of the POCSO Act of 2012 and under Section 376 of the IPC, said a police official.The accused was produced before a court which remanded to police custody till Friday. Meanwhile, the victim has been admitted to civil hospital and is undergoing treatment.Since the last four years, the girl was subjected to torture at the hands of her father.
