Cops, TMC geared up for smooth immersion

All immersion spots have been covered under CCTVs to identify miscreants and take corrective action All-important immersion points are being covered under CCTV surveillance,” said a police official.The Thane traffic police will also deploy 54 officers along with over 550 personnel and 250 wardens and homeguards for bandobast. The permissible exemption for loudspeakers is up to midnight and any violations of this limit or the general noise rules will be dealt as per law.

Thane: The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) and the city police have deployed a robust security system along with CCTV cameras to ensure a smooth and safe Ananth Chaturdashi.Nearly three lakh devotees are likely to participate in the processions at various parts of the city and suburbs on Sunday and the authorities following a last minute drill on Saturday said they were ready to face the challenge today.The civic body has set up major immersion sites at Parsik-Retibunder, Kopri and Kolshet along with 11 artificial ponds at Upvan, Ambeghosale, Tikujiniwadi, Balkum, Kharegaon, etc. that will receive over 11,000 domestic and public Ganesh idols for immersion on the final day of Ganesh Chaturthi.Along with thousands of domestic and public idols from the city, some Thane immersion sites will witness a few idols coming in from neighboring suburbs of Mulund as well. Based on a cursory estimate of devotees visiting the sites throughout the day, the civic administration has made appropriate arrangements like parking lots, space for performing rituals before immersing the idols, snack stalls and viewing gallery for immersions at major sites.“We have made all necessary arrangements for safe and sound celebrations in the city. A strong network of civic security staff and police will be out on the field along with trained volunteers from various non government organisations. All immersion spots have been covered under CCTVs to identify miscreants and take corrective action,” said an official from TMC.Meanwhile, the Thane police have deployed its staff along with one company of the Central Paramilitary Rapid Action Force and five companies of the State Reserve Police Force, two Riot Control Platoons and around 400 home guards, including women home guards will be deployed at various points in the Thane police commisionerate area.“Meetings have also been held with peace committee members and various mandals informed about relevant rules to be followed, including the high court rulings on DJs and noise pollution limits. The permissible exemption for loudspeakers is up to midnight and any violations of this limit or the general noise rules will be dealt as per law. All-important immersion points are being covered under CCTV surveillance,” said a police official.The Thane traffic police will also deploy 54 officers along with over 550 personnel and 250 wardens and homeguards for bandobast. Thirty-one cranes have been deployed all over to clear the immersion routes during emergency while all heavy vehicles have been banned in Thane jurisdiction from afternoon till immersions are over.We have made all necessary arrangements for safe and sound celebrations in the city.
