Additional commissioner of police (East region, Thane police) Prataprao Dighavkar said, "We have also served notices to 23 auto union leaders under CrPC 149, asking them to accept responsibility to control drivers to follow rules." KALYAN: Thane police and RTO authorities have taken action against 1,668 errant auto-rickshaw drivers for violating traffic rules in Kalyan-Dombivli and Ulhasnagar The action came after woman constable, Asha Gawand, was dragged 100 metres recently by an errant auto driver , Aakash, on asking for a driving licence at Kalyan railway station.Thane police swung into action on October 12 and till October 16 took action against 1,667 errant auto drivers, including 474 for taking a fourth passenger, 544 for not wearing proper uniform and 79 for having extra seats.
