Missing 7-year-old traced to Kurla station 12 hours after plaint registered

THANE: A seven-year-old girl, who went missing on Thursday, was reunited with her kin within 12 hours after a missing person’s complaint was filed by her elder sister.The Kalwa police team comprising 20 cops traced the minor to Kurla station following an extensive CCTV surveillance search.The girl wandered away to Kurla and was lost.Senior inspector Shekhar Bhagde of Kalwa police said that the girl, a resident of Gholai Nagar, lived with her elder sister and left home to go to her mother’s place at Kalwa to buy clothes for Diwali.The girl’s sister panicked after the minor did not return home and rushed to the police station for help after enquiring in the neighbourhood.The police registered a case and formed four teams to trace the girl. They also inspected two dozen CCTVs near her house and the railway station.During the search, the team learnt that a girl was spotted at Kurla station and a team rushed to the station to find that the missing minor was handed over to the railway police by people around, who in turn, sent her to the child rehabilitation centre at Mankhurd.The police team went to the centre and got the girl back.The cops also got her new clothes for Diwali and sent her to the sister, who had lodged a missing complaint, added the police.Senior inspector Shekhar Bhagde of Kalwa police said that the girl, a resident of Gholai Nagar, lived with her elder sister and left from home to go to her mother’s place at Kalwa to buy clothes for Diwali after which she lost her way and went missing
