Deer skin, antlers worth Rs 47 lakh found in car, three held

The police have confiscated the car in which the seized goods were transported packed in jute and plastic bags and had been stacked in the car boot. The police said that 11antlers have been recovered during the raid. The police had learnt that the accused were on their way from Shil Phata to Mumbra.The car in which the accused had come was intercepted by the police who conducted a physical check which led to the recovery of a buckskin and a huge stock of antlers. THANE: Deer skin and antlers worth over Rs 47 lakh were seized from three youths from Amravati who had come to Mumbra to sell them, the police said.The trio—Mohammad Saudagar (27), Shaikh Tousif Sheikh Nasir (22) and Rizvan Ahmed Rajik Ahmed (23)—are suspected to have killed the animal somewhere in the forest area in Amravati in the hope of making money by selling the buckskin and the antlers.The police said they were alerted about the three “poachers” who were carrying the contraband and the officials set up a dragnet for them near Global Park locality.
