"Out of 116 class IV employees 100 went on strike so we have deployed 20 home guards, 20 employees on contract basis. Since morning the OPD was functional, we have been conducting surgeries and delivery. The employees have stated that they will be on strike till Friday so the temporary employees will be there till they resume work," said Dr Sangita Makode, additional civil surgeon.The situation was much the same at the Thane mental hospital as close to 90 contract workers and five cooks were hiredfor the 1,516 inmates," said Dr. Dinkar Raokhande, medical superintendent at the Mental hospital.
