THANE: The Kalwa police have arrested four people, including a father-son duo, for allegedly beating a robber to death early on Monday. Those arrested are Rajendra Yadav (25), his father Gangan (52), Panchlal Yadav (26) and Dayashankar Yadav (39). The accused have been booked under sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.The police said that around 2am on Monday, the victim, Shatrugan Yadav (20), sneaked into Gagan Yadav's house in the Poudpada locality. "Yadav climbed on to the terrace and as it was dark, accidentally stepped on the legs of a person who was sleeping on the terrace. The man raised an alarm and a shocked Shatrughan lost his balance and fell from the terrace," said DCP D S Swamy.Other family members and neighbours woke up by that time and rushed out. They caught hold of Shatrughanand started beating him.Locals informed the beat marshals patrolling the slum colony and the police. The police rushed Shatrughanto hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.The police said that Shatrughan has a case of robbery registered against him at Kalwa police station. He might have gone to the house to steal and failed, they added.
