Body of woman washes ashore at Colachel

The body washed ashore around 4.30pm.According to sources in the police, it was a series of small tattoos found on the right arm of the body that confused Ilze. The centre authorities along with Ilze had held a news conference on Saturday appealing to people to help them find Liga. The police team, led by Pothencode sub-inspector Aswini Kumar, also took Liga's sister Ilze along for identification. However, Ilze could not identify the body. The body washed ashore around 4.30pm.According to sources in the police, it was a series of small tattoos found on the right arm of the body that confused Ilze. She said her sister did not have any tattoos on her body till the day she went missing. The body appeared to be a few days old. The face was disfigured and beyond recognition. There was no hair on the head. The body did not have any clothes on it and the out layers of skin appeared to have peeled off owing to floating on water under harsh sun."We are not sure whether it is indeed that of a foreign person because when the outer layers of skin get peeled off, everyone looks fair skinned," said a cop.The police are making arrangements to carry out a DNA test to verify whether the body belonged to Liga. The body is now kept in the mortuary of the Asaripallam Medical College Hospital in Tamil Nadu.Liga had arrived in the state along with her sister to undergo treatment at the Dharma Ayurveda Healing Centre at Pothencode. The centre authorities along with Ilze had held a news conference on Saturday appealing to people to help them find Liga.
