Thiruvananthapuram: Tenders for multi-level parking facilities at corporation main office and Putharikandom will be invited this week.The state high-powered steering committee had approved the detailed project reports (DPR) for two multi-level parking facilities proposed at Palayam and Putharikandom under AMRUT DPRs for the facilities envisaged under urban transport component of AMRUT were cleared at the meeting held in December.As per the proposal, the parking facilities will be set up at a cost of Rs 17.46 crore. The facility, which will be constructed on the corporation premises, will accommodate 102 four wheelers at a time.The second one proposed at Putharikandam will be designed to park 240 vehicles. Besides four wheelers, 250 bikes could also be parked at the multi-level parking facility at Putharikandom.A provision has also been proposed to arrange parking space for autorickshaws at the facility at Putharikandom.Another proposal for a multi-level parking facility at Medical College is awaiting technical sanction. The technical committee has recommended a few modifications with regard to the site.“It has been proposed that the space beneath the main site shall be used as godown. Corporation could use the fund to create basic infrastructure and later on it can be modified by medical college authorities to suit their needs,” a project official said.The technical sanction (TS) committee had earlier sought the concurrence of state-level technical committee to issue technical approvals in principle on the multi-level car parking projects being implemented in AMRUT cities.During the review by the TS committee, it had observed that in addition to the civil, mechanical and electrical components of the works, the major component is the original equipment manufactured project (OEM), and that the technology of the system being unique, shall be the sole proprietary right of the provider.Corporation has also awarded 70 works in stormwater drainage sector in 24 wards. The works will be executed at a cost of Rs 32.01 crore.The corporation had faced trouble finding takers for tenders for AMRUT projects following which it had to be retendered.Till date, corporation has awarded 22 works to the tune of Rs 145.35 crore in various fields including water supply, sewerage, storm water drainage, urban transport and parks. The corporation needs to execute 51 projects at a cost of Rs 357.5 crore under AMRUT.
