Kerala flood relief: Trivandrum corporation to run 16 collection centres

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city corporation will run 16 collection centres for relief materials on Sunday. The civic body has already sent eight loads of relief materials including food, medicine and clothes.People have been voluntarily coming to the control room at the main office with relief materials for the last three days. 20,000 bottles of drinking water were sent to Pathanamthitta on Friday.The officials said that they have collected relief materials to the tune of Rs 50 lakhs through the collection counter at the main office.The corporation has also collected Rs 2.30 lakh which was received as a contribution to the chief minister’s relief fund from contractors’ associations and residents associations.The collection centres will function in the following places on Sunday from 8 am to 2 pm.Putharikandom groundJagathy groundKazhakootam ward committee officeSasthamangalam junctionVanchiyur junctionVattiyoorkavu ward committee officeChackai YMAPeroorkada sopanum shopping complexThiruvallom corporation zonal officeUlloor junctionStatue junctionThampanoor Chaithram hotelSreechithra engineering college PappanamcodeVizhinjam junctionSreekaryam junction.Mayor V K Prasanth said that only new materials will be received at the counters.
