Four arrested for assault on scribe

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kazhakkoottam police have arrested four men in connection with assault and robbery of a scribe.The police identified the accused as Vineesh (30) and Vinojkumar (40) of Kizhakkumbhagam near Kazhakkoottam; Nidhin alias Chikku (29) of Thekkumbhagam near Kazhakkoottam; and Deepak (30) of Pangappara. They were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody. A search is on to nab the remaining two accused.All the accused involved in the case were antisocial elements, having been involved in similar crime cases in the past too.The accused were arrested by a team led by sub-inspectors Sudheesh Kumar and Roy. A S Sarath, working as a sub-editor in an online news portal, is the complainant.The incident related to the case took place on Friday evening when the complainant was returning from his office located near Vetturoad to his residence located near Technopark on his motorcycle.According to the police, the accused attacked the complainant in a dark and deserted bylane behind Mahadeva Temple at Kazhakkoottam and snatched Rs 500 from him.Kazhakkoottam station house officer inspector S Y Suresh said that there were six men in the gang that attacked Sarath.
