Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress leaders are waiting for decision of the AICC on the candidature of Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad, as the KPCC has asked the party high command not to delay it further.Meanwhile, party senior leader A K Antony is learnt to have informed the KPCC leadership that a final decision will come on Wednesday and will not be delayed further. The leaders in the state are hopeful that Rahul will be firm on contesting from Kerala.KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran said the party workers and the party leaders in the state are anticipating a positive decision from the AICC. “We are sure that the request of the KPCC will not be turned down and a positive decision will be taken by Rahul Gandhi as early as possible,” he said.The AICC’s election committee meeting will be held on Wednesday in which a final decision is expected. “It will be decided in a day or two. There will not be further delay in this. Since Rahul Gandhi was busy with the election campaigns he was not getting time to have discussions with the leaders on this,’’ said opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala.The KPCC president said the candidature of Rahul Gandhi will have a positive impact on entire south India, increasing Congress’ prospects in the election. “There is no confusion in the party over the delay in the announcement of the candidature in Wayanad and Vadakara. The party is going ahead with active campaigning in Wayanad and only the announcement of the candidate is left,” said Ramachandran.
