BTech students create a platform for special kids

Rather than showing sympathy, we believe in providing a platform where children with special needs could exhibit their skills and talent to public. This time, we decided to give an open space for students by providing all technical supports. According to Pratyush S, a volunteer of the fest, the camp aimed to encourage the talents of special children and bring them to the mainstream.“Vaibhav is an attempt by some socially-responsible engineering students to create an inclusive space. This year’s tagline is “Together for a better world,” said Pratyush.The camp also organized awareness classes for parents with the support of city-based NGO Helping Hand Organization (H2O). Last year we had organized a talent show at Kanakakkunnu.

Thiruvananthapuram: Bindu Radhakrishnan, mother of a 14 year old, was elated that her son participated in all events held at Vaibhav Camp – the social outreach programme of Government Engineering College, Barton Hill – that began here on Saturday. “I always take him to various events. I was keen to make my son attend this one,” she said. As many as 25 children with special needs in the age group 7 to 16 and their parents gathered at the college to attend the camp, organized as part of Aagneya ‘19 a inter-college techno-culture festival, in association with district council for child welfarePainting, games and story-telling sessions were held as part of the camp.
