R-ABC project launched in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mayor V K Prasanth inaugurated the Rabies-Animal Birth Control programme at Government veterinary hospital, here on Wednesday. As per the stats available with the corporation, city has 9500 stray dogs and 25,500 pet dogs. Besides all stray dogs being sterilised and vaccinated will be inserted with micro-chips. Mayor V K Prasanth said that corporation will implement the scheme by integrating it with a software developed by Information Kerala mission.The civic body has allotted Rs 3 crores for the project for the next two fiscals. The corporation aims at sterilising all stray dogs in the city in the next two years with this project.Mandatory licensing system has also been issued for pet dogs.
