Mr. Chandy was talking to reporters during his visit to the district to attend a series of Congress meetings on Thursday. Mr. Chandy alleged that the government decision to seek yet another legal opinion clearly showed that its hasty decision taken on the eve of the Vengara Assembly bypoll was ‘politically motivated’. Addressing party workers, Mr. Chandy said the people of Kerala were a dejected lot with the ever shooting price of essential commodities, growing crime graph, and absence of law and order. He said the government decision to seek legal opinion justified the Congress stand that the report was unilateral and politically motivated and not to speak of its deviation from the terms of reference. The government’s decision to seek legal opinion from a former judge of the Supreme Court on the solar judicial commission report is nothing but a testimony to its grave flaws in the hasty action taken on the report, former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said.
