Man shot dead by unidentified bikers on NH-76

Udaipur: Helping accident victims on NH-76 proved fatal for a man who was shot dead by unknown bikers while he tried to stop them from escaping. Seeing his companion in trouble, the other man took out a gun and fired at Kalu Khan. The bikers took advantage of the commotion and fled while Khalu Khan collapsed on the road. The news of firing caused a lot of commotion, however, police clarified that it was not a highway loot incident.

Udaipur: Helping accident victims on NH-76 proved fatal for a man who was shot dead by unknown bikers while he tried to stop them from escaping. The incident took place on Wednesday morning on the national highway 76 between Vana-Keer ki Chowky when a couple was going from Kheroda towards Akola village.Chenaram, son of Prithviraj Mali (48), was going with his wife Laxmi (45) towards Akola on his motorbike and he reduced the speed at a barrier. Suddenly a motorcycle hit them from behind and the couple fell down on the roadside. The bikers and the couple argued and instead of apologising, the bikers took to fight.A hotel worker Umesh Dangi and a labourer Kalu Khan (38), son of Mohd Hussain and resident of Vana, who were witnessing the incident rushed to help the couple. Seeing the men approaching, the bikers tried to escape but Kalu Khan held one of the bikers. Seeing his companion in trouble, the other man took out a gun and fired at Kalu Khan. The bikers took advantage of the commotion and fled while Khalu Khan collapsed on the road. He died on his way to the hospital while the couple was given primary treatment.“The bikers had no motive to loot, one of them fired when these men tried to stop them. We have identified the registration number of their motorcycle and sought CCTV footage from the toll plazas on the highway. Teams have been set off to nab the culprits while the deceased’s body has been claimed by his relatives,” said Punaram, SHO Kheroda police station. The news of firing caused a lot of commotion, however, police clarified that it was not a highway loot incident.
