Inmate at Ajmer jail impersonates as inspector dupes four of 35 lakh

"On the morning of January 14, the accused called up these people and asked them to pay a good amount. "We arrested two persons identified as Chetan Mali (27) and Shiv Lal Chaudhary (24) from Udaipur. He promised to pay back the money in the evening the same day. Their interrogation and the location of the phone call cleared that the accused identified as Suresh Ghachi, a notorious conman, is the mastermind in the case and had made calls to target four different people," said Sumer Singh, circle inspector, Pindwara police station. Efforts are on to recover the money from them.

JAIPUR: Exposing glaring chinks at the high security jail in Ajmer, a 33-year-old inmate managed to dupe four persons of nearly Rs 35 lakh by impersonating as a circle inspector.The accused introduced himself as circle inspector of Pindwara police station in Sirohi district and called up four people urging them to help for medication of an IG rank police officer's ailing son and also promised to return the money. His name surfaced on Monday when Pindara police of Sirohi arrested two persons who took the money on behalf of the inmate.According to the police, four people including three transporters and an industrialist in Sirohi got phone calls in which the caller introduced himself as the circle inspector of Pindwara police station of Sirohi."On the morning of January 14, the accused called up these people and asked them to pay a good amount. He promised to pay back the money in the evening the same day. However, when no money was returned, the four persons who had paid nearly Rs 35 lakh on the request of the caller filed an FIR with Pindwara police station," said Jai Yadav, SP, Sirohi while talking to TOI on Tuesday.While investigating the case through technical surveillance, police managed to arrest two persons who had received the money on behalf of the caller."We arrested two persons identified as Chetan Mali (27) and Shiv Lal Chaudhary (24) from Udaipur. Efforts are on to recover the money from them. Their interrogation and the location of the phone call cleared that the accused identified as Suresh Ghachi, a notorious conman, is the mastermind in the case and had made calls to target four different people," said Sumer Singh, circle inspector, Pindwara police station.
