The Vadodara Municipal Corporation on Monday visited all the sweets shops in the city to compulsorily write the date of manufacture and best before date on the dessert tray (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ) Launched a campaign to implement the rule. The corporation`s food safety officer said that "if this rule is not followed, we will destroy the product."

It is noteworthy that the government has implemented new rules to improve the quality of food sold in open confectionery in Gali mohallas. According to these rules, which came into effect from October 1, 2020, it has been made mandatory for all sweets at local sweets shops to record the `date of manufacture` and `suitable period of use` on the plates. It will be mandatory to mention these dates also on canned sweets. These rules have been issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.     

Under the new rules in force, now the time period for the use of open sweets has to be shared by the traders in writing. It will also be necessary to inform the consumer about the number of days this dessert can be eaten. A letter has been sent by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India to the Food Safety Commissioner of all Union Territories, stating that this rule has been implemented to ensure food safety in the public interest. This rule was implemented from October 1, sweets must be registered before the best date. In view of the health of the people, the FSSAI has taken this necessary step, now people will buy the sweets only after reading the date of manufacture and use.
