Energy Minister Saurabh Patel inaugurated Akota-Dandia Bazar bridge road, The 27 crore solar project in Vadodara will generate 14 lakh units of electricity a year

Out of which 32 thousand people are the beneficiaries of Vadodara city alone. The people of Vadodara city and district generate 130 MW of electricity. Vadodara alone has 15 per cent beneficiaries of the state`s solar rooftop scheme.

A Rs 27.4 crore rooftop solar power plant on the Akota-Dandia Bazar bridge road in the heart of Vadodara was inaugurated by state energy minister Saurabh Patel today. This rooftop solar plant will generate 3930 units of electricity per day.

The rooftop solar plant will save Vadodara Municipal Corporation an annual electricity bill of Rs 87 lakh. Along with providing electricity, this solar plant will be a picnic spot for the citizens. Solar tunnels will glow with colorful electricity for 185 days in a year and bring joy to the people of Vadodara.

Sudhir Patel, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Administration), Vadodara Municipal Corporation, while giving information about the rooftop solar plant, said that a roof top solar plant has been laid at a cost of Rs.

The rooftop solar plant, which has been completed in four and a half years, was today inaugurated by state energy minister Saurabh Patel from Sir Sayaji town hall to Vadodara through a virtual platform.


Giving information about the specialty of Roof Top Solar Plant, he said that this Rooftop Solar Plant will generate 982.8 KW of electricity. That is, 3930 units of electricity will be generated per day.

And 14.34 lakh units of electricity will be generated in a year. The electricity generated will be used at the Vadodara Municipal Corporation`s head office Khanderao Market Building as well as Rajivnagar Suez Pumping Station and Atladara Suez Pumping Station in Warsia area. So that the Vadodara Municipal Corporation will save Rs. 87 lakh per annum on electricity and the burden on the Corporation`s treasury will be reduced by Rs. 87 lakh.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner S.K. Patel further said that the maintenance and service roof of the solar plant for the next 20 years will be done by the contractor who built the top solar plant. An MOU will be signed between Central Gujarat Power Company and Vadodara Municipal Corporation regarding the power generated. This roof top solar tunnel will prove to be an attraction for the city of Vadodara along with providing electricity.


He added that the roof top solar tunnel would generate electricity as well as be a picnic spot for the citizens. Colorful lights have been installed in this solar tunnel by Vadodara Municipal Corporation. This lighting will be turned on on public holiday days in addition to Saturday and Sunday.

The Vadodara Municipal Corporation has fixed 185 days of the year for this lighting. The corporation is also considering setting up other facilities for the citizens visiting the solar tunnel in the coming days.

It may be mentioned that the inauguration of the rooftop solar plant on the bridge connecting Dandia Bazar and Akota at a cost of Rs 27.4 crore under the Golden Jubilee Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme Phase-2 and Smart City was inaugurated by the State Energy Minister Saurabh Patel at 5 pm today. Was done through the platform.

Minister of State Yogesh Patel, MP Ranjanbahen Bhatt, Mayor Keur Rokadia, Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal as well as city MLAs Jitendra Sukhadia, Seemabahen Mohile, Manishabahen Vakil and other councilors of the corporation were present on the occasion. The Corona Warriors were also honored at the event.

Energy Minister Saurabh Patel said a solar rooftop scheme for residential has been launched. In which 39 thousand applications have been received in Vadodara. Solar rooftop scheme is working in 33702 houses in Vadodara district.
