Curfew to be intensified in Chittoor district from June 1

Deputy chief minister K Narayanaswamy along with state ministers Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Mekapati Goutham Reddy and elected representatives of Chittoor district held a review meeting on the Covid-19 scenario with the officials of the district administration in Tirupati on Saturday.

With no let up in Covid-19 cases and deaths in the last few weeks, curfew is all set to be intensified further from June 1 in Chittoor district.

Chittoor is one of the worst affected districts in the state in terms of highest Covid-19 death toll with 1,254 patients reported dead due to the coronavirus so far.

Deputy chief minister K Narayanaswamy along with state ministers Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Mekapati Goutham Reddy and elected representatives of Chittoor district held a review meeting on the Covid-19 scenario with the officials of the district administration in Tirupati on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters following the review, minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy said that from June 1 the curfew timings will be cut short by 2 more hours and that public will be allowed to complete their shopping of essentials and other necessities from 6-10 am only as a stricter curfew will be imposed across the district for 20 long hours daily.

"We appeal to the people of the district to take note of the curfew timings and cooperate with the district administration which is trying its best to stall the further outbreak of Covid-19 in the district", appealed Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy.

Meanwhile state industries minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy told reporters that the state government was awaiting AYUSH report on Krishnapatnam Banigi Anandayya`s Covid-19 medicine. "We are awaiting for the response from AYUSH and the state government will not act in a haste over the matter until it receives AYUSH`s report", asserted Mekapati Goutham Reddy.
