After the decline in cases of coronavirus is recorded since the second wave hit, relaxation is been given to the citizens, but it seems like the night curfew in Andhra Pradesh will continue as it will keep a check on the numbers of covid cases.

Andhra Pradesh will continue to have night curfew for one more week. The decision to extend it was taken by AP chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday after a review meeting with officials on Covid situation at his Tadepalli camp office.

Jagan also asked officials to give highest priority to vaccination drive in the state and be prepared to face the impending challenge of a possible third Covid wave.

The CM also instructed officials to recruit more doctors as well as equip police battalions with the right Covid gear. Officials were also told to expedite the work on paediatric superspeciality hospitals at Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati.

The CM told officials to complete vaccination of teachers before reopening of schools and also instructed them to pursue vaccination for pregnant women.

With nearly 35 lakh vaccine doses being given to private hospitals since May 2021 and only about 4,63,590 doses being utilised, the state government had decided to appeal to the Centre to allocate these shots to the government.

So far, the state government has received 1,80,82,390 vaccine doses, of which 8,65,500 doses were yet to be administered, officials informed the chief minister. All mothers with children under the age of five years were 100% vaccinated and 31,796 people travelling abroad were also given the shots, the officials said.

To ensure easy availability of oxygen, Jagan instructed officials to make oxygen beds available right from community health centres (CHCs) to teaching hospitals and equip all primary health centres (PHCs) with oxygen cylinders and concentrators.

The CM enquired about the progress of setting up of oxygen generation plants in every private hospital with more than 50 beds, adding that the state was giving 30% incentive for it. He also told officials to ensure good internet link in all health centres for smooth access to telemedicine services.
