A minor girl from Tripura, who was sold in Rajasthan, was rescued by the Rajasthan Child Right Commission from Jaipur. The girl was allegedly raped by her buyers and she is now two-month pregnant. The victim was sent back home after the news of her rescue was published in the local newspapers. The High Court of Tripura has taken up public interest litigation on Wednesday regarding the incident. The court has issued notice to the Tripura government, Tripura Human Rights Commission, Tripura State Legal Services Authority, Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, District Collector of Unkoti District of Tripura to look after the mater and inform High Court about their views to provide security for the victim girl. According to the media report, the 14-year-old minor from Unokoti district of Tripura was sold to a family in Rajasthan. She was raped repeatedly by the male members of the family. After months of torturing her when the family was trying to resell her, the Rajasthan Child Rights Commission received a tip and rescued her. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Akil Abdulhamid Kureshi and Justice Subhasish Talapatra, after perusing a newspaper report, took suo moto cognizance and issued directions to the state government to investigate the incident.
