Uttar Pradesh: Three killed in two separate honour killings

He said, the girl went to Delhi on November 28 and Birbal's wife claimed that her husband had been missing since January 6. SHO, Sandesh Singh said that Birbal was a married man and had three children and belongs to Jatav community while the girl belongs to another backward class. Both were residents of the same village but from different castes.

AGRA: In two separate cases of suspected honour killings in Western UP , a newly married couple were done to death in Mainpuri while a young girl was shot dead by her bother in Aligarh on Saturday.In Mainpuri, bodies of a young couple, Birbal Jatav and Sulekha Shakya were found hanging from a tree in the outskirts of village Jaisinghpur on Saturday morning. While in Aligarh, 32 year old Nasir allegedly killed his younger sister, Rani (18), as she eloped with her neighbour, Aasif (22) on Thursday night.According to Mainpuri Police , bodies of Birbal Jatav (29) and Sulekha Shakya (19), were spotted by passerby's this morning, around one and a half Km away from the village. Both were residents of the same village but from different castes. The bodies have been sent for post mortem.Talking to TOI, Kishni police station of Mainpuri. He said, the girl went to Delhi on November 28 and Birbal's wife claimed that her husband had been missing since January 6."They had train tickets of yesterday from Agra to Etawah and probably they reached the village late last night," he said adding that girl got married with Birbal, as marriage certificate has also been recovered from them. According to the certificate, they had married on 28 December in the court in Delhi.Talking to Media, Birbal's wife Sony said that her husband was involved with Sulekha and she was aware of their affair. "If they were killed, then their assistants should kill me too," she said.Mainpuri Superintendent of police (SP) Rajesh S said, "Nobody has filed any police complaint but the investigations are on and bodies will be handed over to the families after the postmortem".In the other incident, Aligarh SSP, Rajesh Pandey told TOI that both Rani and Aasif had eloped away from their homes located in Nishat Bagh area on January 11 night but the family located them in Noida and brought them back this morning. The girl's mother allegedly locked her in the house and went away.Her real brother Nasir came home when she was alone and shot at on her chest. He was caught with the weapon red handed by a PCR van that passing by his house while he was leaving. A case has been registered against him under section 302 of IPC.
