Allahabad High Court allows NGO to bear education expenses of minors whose parents were slain

Police said the couple had sold some land and had got significant amount of money for it. Police suspect that the robbers were looking for cash. The dacoits struck the couple while they were sleeping. While Rahul is 17 years old, his sister Deepa is 14.It may be recalled that on March 8, last year, a gang of dacoits entered the under construction house in Amar Colony house of Banwari Lal and killed him and his wife, Ravibala.

AGRA: The Allahabad High Court has accepted the plea of an NGO, Vatsalya Gram , to bear the financial responsibility of "educating" two minor children, Rahul and Deepa Chaudhary, whose parents were murdered on March 8 last year and elder sister committed suicide in October after failing to get justice from the administration in Mathura.A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice M K Gupta, observed that the present arrangements under which the two minors were residing at their own home with their grandmother and cousin should continue and the NGO should take over the financial responsibilities of their education.The court said, "We also hope and trust that the officials of Vatsalya Gram shall regularly visit the house of the children to provide them the required care and guidance."In a PIL social activist Mahant Madhumangal Sharan Das Shukla had assured that court that Vatsalya Gram would bear educational expense of both children. Luckily the couple's children were not at home when the incident happened.In October, the couple's oldest daughter, Rakhi, 20, committed suicide, blaming government system that failed to provide justice to them.The investigating officer of the case informed the court that investigation was progressing in the right direction and lie detector tests of the suspects would soon be conducted.The court has listed the matter for hearing on May 4 and directed the advocate-general to apprise it about further development in the investigation as well as about the condition of the minor children.
