Denied food for three days girl commits suicide

Agra: A teenager committed suicide in Agra, allegedly after her father denied her food for three days. She left a suicide note, accusing her father, grandmother, aunt and brother of being the reason behind her taking the extreme step. For the last three days, Nekram didn’t provide any food to his wife and two daughters, which left Durgesh heartbroken.”“Based on her suicide note, we have filed an FIR under section 306 (abetment for suicide) against Nekram, Dinesh, Ramrati and Bhagwan Devi. Following the incident, Nekram, along with his mother Ramrati, decided to leave for the home of his sister, Bhagwan Devi. My elder brother too, took every opportunity to make our (the victim, her mother and her sister) lives hell.

A case under section 306 of the IPC (abetment of suicide) has been registered against four people, two of whom, the father and the brother, have been arrested.Identified as Durgesh (15), a resident of Prakash Nagar, Itmad-ud-daula area, Agra city, the victim hanged herself from the ceiling of her room on Friday at around 11:30 pm while her mother and sister were asleep in another room. Her body was recovered on Saturday morning. Police recovered a suicide note, where the victim said that her father Nekram, elder brother Dinesh, grandmother Ramrati and aunt Bhagwati Devi were responsible for her suicide.A section of the suicide note read, “…I’m done with this painful life, where my father, egged on by my grandfather and aunt, denied me food for three days. My elder brother too, took every opportunity to make our (the victim, her mother and her sister) lives hell. He set our entire house on fire. Police must persecute these four people who are responsible for my death.”According to a police source, Durgesh was the second youngest among six siblings, four of whom are married. Kamlesh Kumar Singh, station house officer of Itmad-ud-daula said, “Durgesh was the victim of an ongoing family feud and a drunk father. A few months ago, her elder brother Dinesh set their home on fire over a property dispute with his younger brother. Following the incident, Nekram, along with his mother Ramrati, decided to leave for the home of his sister, Bhagwan Devi. He left Durgesh, her mother and her teen sister behind. For the last three days, Nekram didn’t provide any food to his wife and two daughters, which left Durgesh heartbroken.”“Based on her suicide note, we have filed an FIR under section 306 (abetment for suicide) against Nekram, Dinesh, Ramrati and Bhagwan Devi. We have arrested the father and the brother and sent them jail,” he added.
