Agra Congress plans lsquoSadbhavana Yatrarsquo ahead of rsquo19 elections

Agra: With an eye to the Lok Sabha elections next year, and assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan later this year, the Congress in Agra has planned a roadshow, “Sadbhavana Yatra”, from Fatehpur Sikri to Bateshwar Dham next month. For preparations, an 11-member committee has been constituted.”As per the plan, former Congress president Sonia Gandhi will inaugurate the Sadbhavana Yatra at Fatehpur Sikri and Rahul Gandhi will join the roadshow in the end. The yatra, to be held on August 27, will start with offering a Chaddar at the holy shrine in Fatehpur Sikri. At the end of the show, a mega event will be organized, where Rahul Gandhi will address the crowd.Agra shares its boundary with both Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, where assembly elections are drawing closer.

Party vice president Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) are expected to join the event.District president of Congress, Dushyant Sharma, said that invitations for the roadshow had been forwarded to both Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Soon, a delegation will meet the party president in Delhi to finalize if he would participate.According to party leaders, the road show will start with senior party leaders offering Chaddar at the shrine of Sufi saint Salim Chishti in Fatehpur Sikri. It will end with tolling the bell at an ancient Shiv temple at Bateshwar village. At the end of the show, a mega event will be organized, where Rahul Gandhi will address the crowd.Agra shares its boundary with both Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, where assembly elections are drawing closer. Speaking to TOI, Sharma said “The purpose of the Sadbhavana Yatra is to promote environment conservation and harmony among different sections of the society. The yatra, to be held on August 27, will start with offering a Chaddar at the holy shrine in Fatehpur Sikri. It will pass through different parts of the district, including Kirawali, Kagarol, Kheragarh, Saiyan, Iradat Nagar, Shamshabad, Dhimishri, Fatehabad, Arnota, Bhadroli, Farera crossing and culminate at Bateshwar village. Here, party president Rahul Gandhi, along with other senior leaders, will offer prayers at the ancient temple of lord Shiva. For preparations, an 11-member committee has been constituted.”As per the plan, former Congress president Sonia Gandhi will inaugurate the Sadbhavana Yatra at Fatehpur Sikri and Rahul Gandhi will join the roadshow in the end. However, Sonia Gandhi might not be able to join the event due to health concerns.Apart from this, prominent faces of the party from Delhi, as well as leaders from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are expected to participate in the yatra.
