Two die, three injured after portion of a house collapses in Mainpuri

AGRA: Two young girls died and three other members of the same family were injured after the front portion of their two-storey house collapsed near Community health centre in Saluknagar village in Mainpuri on Monday morning. Two buffaloes and a calf also died in the mishap.Family members claimed that their house collapsed due to water logging, caused by rains. Vanadana died on the spot and Mohini succumbed to her injuries while on the way to the hospital.The injured were admitted to Safai hospital for treatment. He said two buffaloes and a calf also died in the mishap.According to villagers, the entire family would have died, if this mishap had occurred few hours ago as they all used to sleep in the front portion of the house. He said, almost a half dozen JCBs were assigned for clearing the rubble.

They claimed that cracks had developed in the wall which resulted in the partial collapse of the wall.However, police said that prima facie the wall had collapsed due to bad quality of construction.According to police, the incident occurred at around 7am, when the girls were inside the house, while the other members were sitting outside.The deceased were identified as Vandana (18), BA student and Mohini (14), class IX student. They were preparing for their school when the mishap occurred. Vanadana died on the spot and Mohini succumbed to her injuries while on the way to the hospital.The injured were admitted to Safai hospital for treatment. They were identified as Ratan Kumar Yadav (head of the family), his wife Neelam, and son Rahul.Mainpuri Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Sahini said that bodies have been sent for post mortem. He said, almost a half dozen JCBs were assigned for clearing the rubble. He said two buffaloes and a calf also died in the mishap.According to villagers, the entire family would have died, if this mishap had occurred few hours ago as they all used to sleep in the front portion of the house.
