Agra: A lawyer was shot and injured in front of New Agra police station by two youths on Wednesday afternoon. Identified as Ashutosh Shrotiya (37), the lawyer was hit in his abdomen. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition is said to be stable.After the incident, a group of lawyers tried to block traffic near Bhagwan Talkies on M G road while protesting. However, after police detained the two youths who allegedly fired at the lawyer, the agitators relented and the jam was cleared.According to police sources, Ashutosh Shrotiya and the director of an educational institute have had a long-standing dispute. Earlier, both of them accused each other of assault and got FIRs registered. On Wednesday afternoon, the institute director was accompanying a man to the district court when he was stopped by Shrotiya and his associates. The latter allegedly assaulted the director.“The director came to New Agra police station. We sent him for medical examination before lodging an FIR. Meanwhile, Shrotiya and a group of lawyers came to the station and engaged in a heated argument with the director’s two sons, who fired at the lawyer. Luckily, he sustained a minor injury,” said a senior officer.“We have detained the two youths and are waiting for a written complaint from the lawyer’s side. Once the FIR is lodged, we will arrest all the men involved in the case,” said Agra SP (city) Prashant Verma.
