Agra: The UP Navnirman Sena has decided to hold a mahapanchayat in Noida’s Bishada village on October 28 to demand a CBI inquiry into the custodial death of one of the 18 accused in Dadri lynching case. The accused, Ravi Sisodia, had died in police custody in October 2016.According to UP Navnirman Sena chairperson Amit Jani, nearly 5 lakh people from 124 villages are likely to participate in the event. The announcement comes days after the outfit declared that it would field Hari Om Sisodia, a lynching accused, from Noida in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.Talking to TOI, Jani said that Ravi died in prison after he was beaten up by the jailor and not due to renal and respiratory failure as claimed by the authorities. “We will demand a murder case against the jailer,” he said, adding that Hari Om is an eyewitness to this incident and he will reveal all details at the mahapanchayat.“We will also demand immediate arrest of Mohammad Akhlaq’s family members. Our objective is to get justice for Ravi’s family. We will ask the administration to provide a compensation of Rs1 crore to the deceased’s family,” Jani said.The Sena chairperson said that BJP leaders had assured justice to Ravi’s family, but they did nothing. In fact, Union minister and Noida MP Mahesh Sharma had attended Ravi’s funeral and tweeted photos of his visit to the deceased’s native village, where his body was draped in Tricolour.“It was only a photo opportunity for the minister. Even the cheque (of Rs3 lakh) that he gave to Ravi’s mother was taken back.
