For Unesco tag, city survey to be held in Nov

The CEPT had assisted Ahmedabad in getting the heritage city tag.Additional municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar said, “CEPT will be helping us in preparing the proposal to apply for the Unesco World Heritage city tag. A decision to the effect was taken after a six-member committee of officials, led by additional municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar, visited Ahmedabad, the first heritage city of the country.The committee had held meeting with CEPT experts in Ahmedabad and the city’s municipal commissioner there. Besides, a heritage conservation centre will be opened in the civic body premises soon.” For this a city-wide survey will be conducted in November. Required documents have already been shared with the university.

Agra: Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad will conduct a city-wide survey next month to prepare a proposal to apply for Unesco ‘World Heritage city’ tag for Agra.According to Agra Municipal Corporation (AMC) officials, the aim is to prepare the proposal and complete the application process within next six months.AMC is also going to set up a heritage conservation centre to coordinate with Agra Development Authority, public works department, Archeological Survey of India and the state tourism department. A decision to the effect was taken after a six-member committee of officials, led by additional municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar, visited Ahmedabad, the first heritage city of the country.The committee had held meeting with CEPT experts in Ahmedabad and the city’s municipal commissioner there.
