AGRA: In a gut-wrenching incident, a 12-day-old toddler was snatched and killed by a monkey in Agra's outskirt area on Monday late night.Identified as Arush alias Sunny, the victim’s body was recovered from a roof of a neighbour’s house.The incident took place in Kachhara Thok colony of Runkata area near NH-2, when the victim’s mother Neha was feeding the baby.Yogesh, the victim’s father, an auto-rickshaw driver said, "The main door of the house was open, and my wife was breastfeeding our son, when suddenly from nowhere a monkey barged inside our house and grabbed him from his neck.”“Before Neha could understand anything, the monkey took away our son. After a chase, the monkey left our son on neighbour’s roof but it was too late, Arush was heavily bleeding from neck and had no pulse. We took him to nearby private hospital, where he was declared dead,” added Yogesh.According local residents, 15 minutes before snatching away Arush, the monkey also attempted to attack a 14-year-old girl, who sustained minor injuries while escaping from the monkey.Arush was the only son of the couple who have been married for two-years.Speaking to TOI, sub-inspector Atbir Singh, in-charge of Runkata police outpost said, “The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem and would be handed over to family soon. The toddler's skull and neck suffered grave injury- we saw the open wounds.”Police source claimed, “Two months ago, another toddler was attacked in the same colony by monkey, but the victim survived and is currently in hospital.”In a similar attack last month, a youth on motor-bike was killed on MG road, after a herd of monkey came in front of him, and the victim lost his balance and rammed into divider.”
