Goods train carrying salt derails in Farrukhabad; 1 hurt

Agra: A goods train carrying several tonnes of salt derailed on Saturday morning in Farrukhabad district. A team of three senior railway officials have been formed to investigate the matter. The ground staff is working to repair the track in order to start the train operation as soon as possible.”Due to accident, over dozens of passengers, express train operation via Farrukhabad to Kanpur were halted, diverted or cancelled. After the accident, operations on Kanpur-Farrukhabad railway section were halted.According to railway officials, the train was heading Naugachia of Sonpur division from Nawacity of Jodhpur division. In the accident, the goods train guard Ramesh Kumar was injured and he was taken to hospital, where his condition is told to be stable.The accident occurred at 5:09 am near Singhirampur railway station, which is 17 km away from Farrukhabad junction.

In the accident, the last three wagons of the trains got uncoupled and derailed.After the accident, an accident relief train was sent to the spot at 8:30 am from Kasganj.Rajendra Kumar, public relation officer of Izzatnagar division of Northeastern railway said, “It’s yet to be ascertained as to what led the accident. A team of three senior railway officials have been formed to investigate the matter. The ground staff is working to repair the track in order to start the train operation as soon as possible.”Due to accident, over dozens of passengers, express train operation via Farrukhabad to Kanpur were halted, diverted or cancelled.
