Hatchback catches fire after hitting tree, 3 of family, minor girl charred to death in UP’s Hathras

Agra: Trip to a wedding ceremony turned into tragedy when a speeding hatchback rammed into a tree, overturned and caught fire trapping and killing four occupants and leaving two others seriously injured in UP’s Hathras district in the wee hours of Saturday. Yogesh, who was at the wheel, pulled them out of the burning car. Yogesh, who runs a taxi service, came to pick them up on Friday night. Driver Yogesh sustained minor injuries but lost his daughter in the accident, police said.Vichitra Gupta, who runs a grocery store in Pora village of Hathras, had hired the car to attend the ceremony. They were rushed to Aligarh government hospital.

According to driver, who escaped with minor bruises, the steering wheel of the car got jammed due to which the accident took happened.Manoj Kumar Sharma, station house officer (SHO) of Sikandraraau, said: “Seven persons, including five of a family, were returning from a wedding ceremony in Aligarh when their car rammed into a tree before turning turtle on Pora-Jirauli road at 12:15am on Saturday. The car then caught fire, killing four persons, including a minor girl.”Shashi Bala Gupta (50), her daughter Pratiksha Gupta (21), her son Mohit Gupta (25) and driver’s eight-year-old daughter Muskan were trapped inside the vehicle and died in the blaze.Vichitra Narayan Gupta, Shashi Bala’s husband and their son Rohit,23, suffered serious burn injuries. Yogesh, who was at the wheel, pulled them out of the burning car. They were rushed to Aligarh government hospital.
