AGRA: When Agra rural BJP MLA Hemlata Diwakar went to visit Nainana Jat village of her constituency , under the BJP’s public interaction exercise “Kamal Sandesh Yatra”, she was met with black flags . Locals, raising the slogan “Hemlata Diwakar Murdabad”, accused her of doing little development work in the area and held her responsible for its poor sanitation system. The MLA and her supporters were shown black flags and were asked to go back. The entire incident was caught on camera.Protestors told Diwakar that she had no right to come to the village asking for support as after being elected the local MLA, she and MP Chaudhary Babulal “had done nothing for development of the area”.“We have no complaint against chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but the MLA and the MP are not performing. So far, not even a single tap has been funded in the village by the MLA or the MP,” said local resident Narendra Singh Chahar, who had interacted with the MLA.“Roads, drainage system, water supply infrastructure and other basic amenities are in a poor condition in the village. The MLA has failed to take cognizance of the situation. This is her first visit in the last one and a half year, and that too with a political purpose. She has no intention of addressing our problems.”The MLA told the agitators, “Things were the same two years ago. You did not protest then.”To this, a protester replied, “You were elected to bring things to order. No development has been done after much delay. Blacks flags are a message that you are not working, madam.”Villagers alleged that the MLA didn’t meet them if they went to her residence with a problem. A BJP supporter said that she had often refused to recognize local party workers. The MLA said, “The very purpose of going to the village was to address local issues. Some people started raising slogans without even bothering to talk about their problems. I had planned with the gram pradhan to solve the issue of garbage disposal. Other issues will be addressed soon. Development works are taking pace in my constituency.”
