Jal Sansthan officials said a 200-meter portion of the pipeline was damaged and needed to be replaced. The breach occurred two weeks ago and now, it is stuck in the tendering process. As a result, for the past 15 days, several localities in the city have been reeling under inadequate water supply.The Jal Sansthan had issued a short notice e-tender for repairing the pipeline. Now, the ground work will take place after at least one week.Agra Jal Sansthan officials took cognizance of the major leak on the 1600 mm diameter supply pipeline connected to the Lohamandi water works station on December 31, 2018. Jal Sansthan officials said a 200-meter portion of the pipeline was damaged and needed to be replaced. And that it would take five days to complete the repairs.An order was placed to a Delhi-based firm for delivery of the pipe and other material required to repair the supply line. Later, the repairing work was delayed following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on January 9 to address a public rally. Now, Jal Sansthan has decided to give the contract for repairing the pipeline to a private agency.Executive engineer of the Jal Sansthan Rajendra Arya said, “To ensure complete quality and complete transparency in the repairing work e-tendering process has been initiated. Soon, a suitable private agency will be tasked to fix the damaged pipeline. The tendering process will be completed within next one week.”Meanwhile, several localities in the city connected to Lohamandi water works station continue to receive inadequate water supply. The affected localities include Shahganj, Gokulpura, Telipara, Raja Ki Mandi, Station Road, Siknadra, Awas Vikas, Aheerpara, Tajganj, Kala Mahal, Jeevani Mandi, six colonies of Balkeshwar locality, Kamla Nagar B and C block and Lohamandi.
