Youth booked for rape bid

Agra: Police have registered a case against a youth on Wednesday for allegedly trying to rape a 20-year-old girl in a field.The accused, identified as Anikesh (24) hailing from a village under Pinhat police jurisdiction, allegedly tried to rape his neighbour on Tuesday. Based on a complaint, police registered a case against him under IPC sections 376 (rape), 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life) and 306 (abetment of suicide). The accused is on the run. She later set herself ablaze.
