AMU clash: Varsity’ disciplinary committee to decide fate of eight student

In his memorandum to SSP Aligarh, Akash Kulhari, Ajay had said that there was threat to his and his supporters’ lives. He said, “We don’t trust the proctor, registrar and PRO of the varsity and we need security at the proctor’s office.”Notably, Ajay had demanded security from UP police as he feared threat to his life. One of the suspended students, Farhan Zubairi, was also among the 14 students booked by police under charges of sedition , which was later dropped in the absence of any concrete evidence.When contacted, varsity spokesperson Shafey Kidwai said that the date of disciplinary committee meeting will be finalised once we receive the report from the fact-finding committee. He said that the meeting will be chaired by vice chancellor Prof Tariq Mansoor.Meanwhile, apprehending violence on campus, the BJP Aligarh unit has urged the district administration to provide security to Ajay Singh and other students on Monday.BJP’s Aligarh media in-charge and ex-student of AMU Nishit Sharma said that their associates will provide security to Ajay and other students if the administration does not do so.

AGRA: A fact-finding committee of the Aligarh Muslim University AMU ), probing the violent February 12 clash on the campus, will record statements of four suspended students, including LLM first year student Ajay Singh, the grandson of BJP MLA Dalveer Singh on Monday.According to the AMU administration, four students from the other group that was involved in the clash — Imran Khan , Abdul Mabood, Farhan Zubairi , and Adil Khan — recorded their statements on Saturday.After the recording of the statements of all the eight students, the committee would submit its report to the varsity’s disciplinary committee, which will then decide action to be taken against them.A day after the clash, AMU authorities had suspended eight students for indiscipline and misconduct till the inquiry is over.The varsity had also banned the entry of these students to the campus.
