Agra: An eight-year-old girl was found raped and murdered in Firozabad district on Monday morning.Resident of Chandpura village under Sirsaganj police jurisdiction close to Firozabad-Mainpuri border, the victim went missing on Sunday night after she went to attend a function organized by her neighbours. Eldest among two siblings, victim’s body was recovered from a wheat field, 200 metres away from her home.Based on her mother’s written complaint, police filed an FIR against a 33-year-old local resident, Bantu Singh. According to locals, the victim was last seen with Singh. The accused is absconding.Copy of the FIR read, “After leaving home at 9pm, Preeti (name changed) was spotted with Bantu Singh at 9:15pm by villagers. When she didn’t reach home by 9:30pm, her family and villageers started searching for her and even confronted Singh. He denied having any knowledge. He reached the village at 1am.”“At around 6:30am on Monday, villagers found my daughter’s body. She was bleeding from her abdomen and her clothes were thrown a few meters away from the wheat field where her body was found. The irked villagers when went to Singh’s residence to confront, he was found missing,” said Preeti’s mother.Superintendent of police (rural), Rajesh Kumar of Firozabad said, “Prima facie, it seems that victim was sexually assaulted and then strangulated to death. Her body has been sent for post-mortem. Forensic team has collected vital samples and evidences from the spot. Police is now searching for the accused.”
