Dilapidated roof of government primary school caves in, 4 kids injured

Agra: Four children, three of them students of a government primary school, were injured after the roof of some abandoned, dilapidated classrooms caved in. They are all safe expect two have received bone fractures and injuries in the face.”“The school administration had earlier been asked to demolish the dilapidated structure but they did not do it. “A sum of money will be provided as compensation to the injured kids” Sharma added. He was accompanied by three students of the school. At the time of the incident, the school staff was busy preparing the Sanskrit exam paper for class III, IV and V.After the incident, the school authorities, along with local police, rushed the victims to S N Medical College.

The incident took place at Katra Shivdas area of Fatehpur Sikri police jurisdiction on Tuesday morning.A 10-year-old boy, looking for scrap iron bars, wandered into the roof of the abandoned structure. He was accompanied by three students of the school. The structure caved in, injuring the four kids. They were rushed to SN Medical College for treatment.Speaking to TOI, Anand Prakash Sharma, district basic education officer said, “The dilapidated structure was out of bounds for students but they somehow ended up there. They are all safe expect two have received bone fractures and injuries in the face.”“The school administration had earlier been asked to demolish the dilapidated structure but they did not do it. A three-member committee, comprising Virender Patel and Om Prakash Yadav, the two block education officers of Barauli Ahir and Fatehabad respectively, will investigate the matter along with Anil Chaudhary, district coordinator (construction). They will submit their report in a week,” Sharma added.The victims were identified as Hasnen, 12, a student of class 5, and Shehwaz, 10, and Wasim, also 10, students of class 4. The fourth was Siraj-ud-din, 10, a local teenager who sold scrap for a living. At the time of the incident, the school staff was busy preparing the Sanskrit exam paper for class III, IV and V.After the incident, the school authorities, along with local police, rushed the victims to S N Medical College. “A sum of money will be provided as compensation to the injured kids” Sharma added.
