Uttar Pradesh Polls 2017: Polling ends, Agra records 64% of voting

Saturday remained action pact day in Uttar Pradesh ahead of Assembly Elections. Polling took place on 73-seats across 15 districts of Western Uttar Pradesh in the first phase of Uttar Pradesh Polls 2017. According to final reports Agra registered around 64 per cent of voting.

Polling took place on 73-seats across 15 districts of Western Uttar Pradesh in the first phase of Uttar Pradesh Polls 2017. Polling has come to an end. By and large the polling was peaceful barring a few stray incidents reported from some of the seats in the state. In Agra, Shubam Choubey was first voter at booth no. 99. Voters began queuing up at polling booth early on Saturday morning. Polling had taken place in the nine assembly constituencies of Agra district according to election commission office. A total of 121 candidates are in the fray. The total number of voters in Agra district is 32,42,858. The Jalesar seat in Agra is the smallest. The maximum number of 26 candidates are in fray from Agra South, while the least number of aspirants are in Hastinapur which has six candidates. Of the total, 1.42 crore are men, 1.17 crore women and 1,511 are from the third gender. According to final reports Agra registered around 64 per cent of voting. Though, it`s too early make any speculations as who will win in Agra but watching the trend whole day, Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party has a good chance of winning in Agra but one will have to wait February 11 when the results will be announced.
