Agra: Two days after a silver trader Ram Kumar Agrawal was shot dead by three bike-borne assailants in Balkeshwar locality here, police, on Tuesday, arrested five men, including his younger brother Harish Agrawal, who was reportedly in a debt of Rs 4 crore and hired nine assailants for the crime. Harish was helped by a dentist friend Dr Vikal Chawada. Six months back Harish had hired men to kill his brother but the plan had failed, cops said.According to police, Harish hired the assailants for Rs 2 lakh from Firozabad after he lost Rs 4 crore in business and gambling. “Harish had planned the murder several months back. Ram Kumar was earlier attacked by unknown men with an iron rod while he was heading home. At that time, Dr Chawada, also known to Ram Kumar, had convinced him to not file a police complaint,” said senior superintendent of police (SSP) Preetinder Singh.“Ram Kumar had provided financial help to Harish for some time but later avoided him. In the meanwhile, Ram Kumar’s business grew after he joined hands with his brother-in-law. It was then that Harish decided to get rid of his brother and take over his business,” added SSP Singh.Cops also informed that it was Dr Chawada who first contacted shooter Gaurav Gupta in Firozabad after which a team of nine assailants was formed. “The miscreants conducted a recce of Ram Kumar before attacking him on Sunday night,” informed Singh.Police have arrested Harish, Dr Chawada, Gaurav Gupta and his aides Murari Baghel and Prabhat Yadav. Teams have been sent to various locations to arrest other absconding members of the gang.
