AGRA: To ensure each village is made aware of the achievements of Indian Railways during the three years of Narendra Modi government , the railway ministry has asked all its 16 zones across the country to dispatch a 20-point letter to nearly 2.5 lakh gram panchayats Each state will write letter in their local language incorporating achievements of the railway ministry and work accomplished by local divisional railway office in the zone.For instance, in the case of UP, the North Eastern Railway (NER) zone, which was given the responsibility to write the 20-point letter in hindi, had mentioned about Rs 41,766 crore worth various railway track projects in the state connecting Meerut-Panipat, Lalitpur-Satna, Mahoba-Khurja, Mathura-Jhansi and others.Similarly, the letter also mentions the electrification of Chhapra-Ballia-Gazipur, Varanasi-Allahabad and many others projects, including the introduction of WiFi on UP railway stations, foundation stone of diesel engine locomotive factory by PM and etc.Speaking to TOI, additional deputy general manager, North Central Railway (NCR), Santosh Bajpai said, "This is for the first time that the ministry has decided to create awareness among rural people by sending letters to sarpanchs and zila panchayats."According to the ministry of panchayati raj, there are 2,49,014 gram panchayats and 618 zila panchayats.Chief public relation officer of North Eastern Railway (NER) Sanjay Yadav said, "In UP we are going to dispatch letters in 59,003 gram panchayats and similarly, the other states' zone too will send letters in local language to create awareness about the achievements of the railways in the last three years."
