Change outlook to defeat extremism, AMU VC tells Muslims

"Women make 50 percent of humanity and nations cannot progress if their women are not educated," said Prof Mansoor.On the sidelines of seminar, the VC supported the decision of UP government of modernising madrasas. He said that there is a need to teach students other subjects for joining main stream.However, All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPBL), Vice President, Kalbe Sadiq said that nothing can be done without "sharia" law. He further said that people need to be tolerant towards history and culture of all communities in the world and stress should be paid on education of masses.Talking about women education, VC said that no community in the world can progress without educating their women. Speaking on the occasion, he said that people are trying to avoid "our" law but they won't succeed.Earlier during the welcome address, Prof Ali Mohammad Naqvi said that Sir Syed was the founder of 'Kalam-e-Jadid' (New Islamic Theology) and other scholars have followed him. ALIGARH: Aligarh Muslim University vice chancellor, Dr Tariq Mansoor has exhorted Muslims across the world to change their thinking and outlook in order to progress and defeat extremism.Speaking at the international seminar on "Reason and religion: way to defeat extremism contribution of India and Iran in development of Kalam-e Jadid," the VC said, "We should work with other great religious preachers of the world for a better Inter faith understanding".
