To tackle festive rush, UPSRTC to increase frequency of buses, cancel leaves

Meerut/Agra/Bareilly: In order to tackle festive rush, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has decided to increase frequency of buses across the state from October 17 to October 24. Besides, the transport corporation has cancelled the leaves of all employees during this period. To ensure full attendance of drivers, conductors and other staffers, special incentives have been announced for UPSRTC employees working in these eight days.“During this time of the year, there is a sharp rise in the number of people taking UPSRTC buses. On the other hand, contractual drivers and conductors will get 55 paisa per every extra kilometer covered in these eight days. The idea is to enhance efficiency and ensure convenience to passengers.”

To ensure full attendance of drivers, conductors and other staffers, special incentives have been announced for UPSRTC employees working in these eight days.“During this time of the year, there is a sharp rise in the number of people taking UPSRTC buses. To ensure that commuters do not face any kind of inconvenience during the festival season, frequency of buses on routes should be increased from October 17 to October 24,” said UPSRTC managing director P Guru Prasad in a circular to all regional managers.“Maximum number of buses should be on roads during the said period and it should be ensured that these buses are equipped with spare parts so that in case of a breakdown, a vehicle can be repaired immediately,” read the circular.In his communication to the regional managers, Prasad also made it clear that unless there is an emergency, leaves of all UPSRTC staffers stand cancelled during this period.Speaking to TOI, UPSRTC service manager, Agra division, S P Singh said, “We have received instructions from the headquarters to not sanction any leave unless there is an emergency. Special allowances and incentives have also been announced for employees who perform beyond their set targets.”If a permanent driver or conductor works continuously for eight days and is able to cover more than the targeted kilometers, he will get an additional allowance of Rs 2800. On the other hand, contractual drivers and conductors will get 55 paisa per every extra kilometer covered in these eight days. An additional allowance of Rs 850 has also been sanctioned for depot and workshop employees.UPSRTC service manager, Bareilly division, RBL Sharma said, “Both permanent and contractual employees will not be given leaves in this period. The idea is to enhance efficiency and ensure convenience to passengers.”
