AGRA: A new controversy has erupted in Aligarh Muslim University with the Dharma Jagran Samanvay (DJS), an RSS affiliate, demanding that a photograph of Jat royal and freedom fighter Mahendra Pratap Singh , who is said to have donated land for the construction of the university, be displayed there prominently, and to be given "due respect at par with" the university's founder, Syed Ahmad Khan.In November 2014, the BJP had unsuccessfully tried to celebrate Mahendra Singh's birth anniversary on the university's campus. What started with AMU Students Union (AMUSU) ex-vice president Nadeem Ansari allegedly posting a morphed derogatory picture of Sandeep Singh on his Facebook wall has blown into a full-fledged online battle with DJS retaliating by posting a morphed picture of Khan and circulating it on social media.Though police have booked the perpetrators of both derogatory posts, DJS has now raised the demand of displaying Mahendra Singh's photo in the university campus.
