Two injured in firing 17 booked in Tarn Taran

Tarn Taran: Followers of the Kar Sewa sect Sursing in a bid to take over the land of a farmer at Baleher village shot at two members of a family leaving them injured here on Monday. The police said the injured had been identified as Gurjant Singh and his mother Veer Kaur who were admitted to the Civil Hospital. Of the 17 persons involved in the crime three have been identified as Baba Partap Singh his son Gur and Bhagwan Singh of Thatha village. The accused opened fire on them when they tried to stop them from doing so. The accused have been booked under Sections 307 447 511 148 and 149 of the IPC and Sections 25 27 54 and 59 of the Arms Act by the Bhikhiwind police.

Sukhwant Singh brother of Gurjant Singh in his statement to the police stated that he and Gurjant were working in the fields when the accused armed with weapons reached the spot and started tilling their land with a tractor. The accused opened fire on them when they tried to stop them from doing so. The accused have been booked under Sections 307 447 511 148 and 149 of the IPC and Sections 25 27 54 and 59 of the Arms Act by the Bhikhiwind police. OC
