Girl ends life youth booked

Amritsar: A 19-year-old girl identified as Niti a resident of Indira colony Kot Khalsa committed suicide at her house on Monday. On the complaint of her elder sister Amandeep the police have booked Jobandeep Singh of same locality. TNSTwo held with 290-gm heroinAmritsar: The city police have nabbed two drug peddlers and recovered 290-gm heroin from them. They have been identified as Kanwaljit Singh alias Gopi of Hard Khurd village; and Jaspreet Singh of Khatrai Khurd village. During checking the police recovered 290-gm heroin and an electronic weighing scale from them.

Amritsar: A 19-year-old girl identified as Niti a resident of Indira colony Kot Khalsa committed suicide at her house on Monday. On the complaint of her elder sister Amandeep the police have booked Jobandeep Singh of same locality. A case under Section 306 of the IPC has been registered against Jobandeep while raids were on to nab him said the police. Cops said Niti had an affair with Jobandeep for the last three years. According to the complainant the accused married some other girl and when the victim came to know about this she got very upset. She hanged herself with an iron girder. The police authorities said they were conducting raids to nab the accused who fled along with his entire family. TNS Two held with 290-gm heroin Amritsar: The city police have nabbed two drug peddlers and recovered 290-gm heroin from them. They have been identified as Kanwaljit Singh alias Gopi of Hard Khurd village; and Jaspreet Singh of Khatrai Khurd village. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against them at the Cantonment police station. They were brought on police remand for further interrogation to ascertain the source of the contraband. Assistant Commissioner of Police Dev Dutt Sharma said the police got a tip-off that the accused were travelling in a black Tata Safari on the Amritsar-Fatehgarh Churian Road from Gumtala side to sell heroin. A checkpoint was installed at Gumtala Bridge and the accused were intercepted. During checking the police recovered 290-gm heroin and an electronic weighing scale from them. Further probe is on. TNS Youth held with illegal weapon Amritsar: The police have nabbed Saurav a resident of Amarkot for allegedly possessing an illegal country-made weapon and two live bullets on Sunday. He was brought on police remand. According to preliminary probe Saurav said the weapon was provided to him by Nikhil. Cops said they were verifying the claims and ascertaining credentials of Nikhil. A case under relevant sections of the Arms Act has been registered against Saurav. TNS
