AMRITSAR: United Kissan Morcha (UKM) held a rally at the border village of Attari on Saturday demanding the Center government to resume Indo-Pak trade for the betterment of farmers. While addressing the gathering, prominent farmers leader Rattan Singh Randhawa said that the beginning of Indo-Pak trade would give a major boost for the positive development of Punjab and India as a whole. He said the only viable rail and road link of India to Pakistan and beyond was through Attari which provided a direct trade between India and other countries of the region. About other demands raised by UKM, Randhawa said that the government must ensure MSP of all the crops as per Swami Nathan Commission report and must make all efforts to make agriculture a viable occupation to maintain the economic and political stability of the country. He also raised the issue of farmers whose lands were acquired for the demarcation of Zero Line. The farmers whose land was acquired for demarcation of zero line at the time of partition of the country have yet to get compensation of their acquired lands, the government should settle their dues immediately, said Randhawa.
