AMRITSAR: Sleuths of the Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of Amritsar police recovered huge arsenal following the arrest of four persons who were receiving financial support to purchase weapons and ammunition from United States (US) based persons through hawala channel.Following a secret input, the sleuths of CI recovered a total of 16 pistols, including 6 pistols with .32 bore magazines, 5 pistols .30 bore, 15 live cartridges .32 bore, Rs 2 lakh currency and a mortar cycle, said police in a release issued on Sunday.The arrested accused, Anmol Singh, Kanrandeep Masih and Jagroop Singh are residents of Batala. Whereas, Satnam Singh is a resident of Tarn Taran district.Anmol, Karandeep and Jagroop were arrested form the area of Fatehgarh Churian in Batala police district.Preliminary investigation revealed that the gangsters would smuggle weapons from Madhya Pradesh to sell it in Punjab. The investigation further revealed that the arrested persons used to receive money from US-based Kirandeep Singh Randhawa and Jarmanjit Singh through hawala channel to purchase weapons.All the four arrested gangsters alleged that one Sukhnoor Singh alias Suba, resident of Batala police district, and his colleagues were on their target. Suba is currently lodged in Central Jail, Goindwal Sahib.Police said that further investigations were being carried out to unearth the whole network of arms suppliers, dealers and their buyers."Efforts are being made to identify the complete procurement and supply chain across different states," said the release.
