Sons of police personnel among four arrested for car snatching case in Amritsar

AMRITSAR: Four men, including the sons of serving police personnel, were arrested by the police for their alleged involvement in a car-snatching incident in Amritsar. The arrested individuals are identified as Sahil Gill, Gurpreet Singh, Jashanpreet Singh, and Rajandeep Singh, while one accomplice named Bablu remains at large. Sahil and Rajandeep are confirmed to be the sons of currently serving police personnel.Additional deputy commissioner of police, Varinder Khosa, revealed that the police also recovered the stolen car and the vehicle used by the accused. The incident unfolded when the accused befriended the victim, Ankush Sharma, who had left his car engine running while purchasing snacks in Ranjit Avenue market. Taking advantage of the situation, the culprits seized the opportunity to snatch the vehicle. However, their plans took a turn when Ankush, equipped with the remote control, forced them to return. A confrontation ensued, leading to the culprits forcibly taking the remote from Ankush and assaulting him.Khosa explained that due to Ankushs inebriated state, he left his Apple phone in the car, allowing the police to trace the location of the stolen vehicle. A case has been registered against the accused, and the police have obtained a four-day remand from the court to further investigate the matter.
